Supplies for June

DSC00202

At the June meeting we will experiment with printing, stamping, and stenciling on fabric.  Liz will provide a selection of paints, stencils, and stamps, although you are welcome to bring some of your own, too.  Susan says she will bring screen printing equipment as well.  We’ve been looking forward to this session for quite awhile!

Here is what you need to bring:

  • Fabric pieces – bring several different pieces if you like. Recommend no larger than a fat quarter in size, down to about 6-inch squares. Fabric can be white, black, colors, even prints.
  • Barbasol shaving cream – plain without aloe or additives
  • Apron or smock – Don’t know about you, but I get messy!
  • Shallow tray – about size and depth of a meat tray. Larger size means you can print larger pieces of fabric. TIP: Add a layer or two of gel medium to reduce meat tray’s absorption.

Bring these if you have them:

  • Stamps
  • Stencils
  • Fabric inks and/or paints
  • Squeegee or spatula
  • Brushes, spray bottles, etc.

Liz will be bringing the following:

  • Fabric inks and paints – multiple brands so we can try them all!
  • Stencils
  • Stamps
  • Some shallow trays (I have about 8 of these)
  • Brushes, spray bottles, ink daubers
  • Plastic table cloths
  • Palette papers
  • Ink droppers

Bring your creativity!  Anything you’ve seen in a magazine or on the net, we can try it – plastic bag printing – anyone have a gelli plate? – reverse stenciling – let’s have a good play day!
